Feedback on swimming lessons

We are aware of certain comments that have been made over the last few days regarding our swimming lessons and we want to assure you that we are taking these seriously.

As a leisure facility, we are continually looking to improve customer satisfaction and ensure both the progression and enjoyment of all children on our learn to swim programme.

Whilst we appreciate and welcome constructive criticism, some of the comments received have had a negative impact on the wellbeing and morale of our teaching team.

Our teachers are professionally qualified and trained and have the best interests of your children at heart. They understand what is needed to progress to the next level and are in the best position to gauge whether a child needs to progress or receive further tuition in their current class.

We would therefore appreciate your support and patience whilst we look to resolve any issues raised, but please bear in mind that our swimming teachers are the professionals.

We do appreciate that there have been some changes in the teaching team over the last few months, but the standards we look for within each stage are particularly high, especially when compared to other learn to swim programmes, and this will continue.

We are however, looking at our criteria within the coming months but there will always be slight differences between programmes taught elsewhere and even individual teachers.

We have also noted the comments that children are being ‘held back’ for financial gain of the leisure facility. This is simply not true.

We have a long waiting list for swimming lessons, so if we felt money was more important than your child’s ability to swim, then surely we would be putting children through quicker so we can get more people onto our lessons. Our first and most important priority is to help children learn to swim in a safe and correct manner as this is a very important life skill.

We would therefore ask that if you have any queries or comments about our swimming lessons that you speak with our reception team who will be able to arrange a call back from the relevant swimming teacher, or a duty manager if needed. This will enable us to discuss and resolve your concerns directly with you, rather than posting messages on social media with comments from people who have no real knowledge in teaching swimming.

Finally, we would like to thank all our customers for their ongoing support and assure you that providing high quality lessons are our top priority.
